pb css avec ie et firefox

bonjour tout le monde,
voila mon pb j'ai fait un site en php avec un feuille de style css comprenant un body, un conteneur, un header, un navigation, un centre et un pied
quand j'affiche mes pages sous ie ou firefox le rendu n'est pas le meme
sous ie, mes boites ont bien été prises en compte c'est a dire que quelquesoit la longueur de mon centre sur chaque page je vois mon header mon navigation mon centre (avec ou non un scrollbar) et mon pied
par contre sous firefox elles ne sont pas pris en compte je vois bien mon header et mon navigation mais mon pied change de position selon mon centre!!!!!
est-ce normal ???
