Bonsoir à la communauté.
J'ai faid mes premiers pas sur gtk il ni y'a pas longtemps.
Mon problème est le suivant: dès que je lance l'application, le menu principal apparait.seulement quand j'affiche une fenêtre fille,et lorsque je clique sur la fenêtre mère ,celle ci cache la fenêtre fille.J'aimerai savoir s'il y'a un moyen pour retirer le focus à la fenêtre mère.
De plus quand je ferme la fenêtre fille,la fenêtre mère se ferme également.
comment puis je empêcher cela?

Pour le second problème c'est une erreur de programmation. Il faudrait voir ton code pour être plus précis dans la réponse.

Quant à la première question il faut rendre la fenêtre fille modale par rapport à la mère. Pour faire court utilise la fonction suivante:

Dialog windows should be set transient for the main application window they were spawned from. This allows window managers to e.g. keep the dialog on top of the main window, or center the dialog over the main window. gtk_dialog_new_with_buttons() and other convenience functions in GTK+ will sometimes call gtk_window_set_transient_for() on your behalf.
 
On Windows, this function puts the child window on top of the parent, much as the window manager would have done on X.
